A Viral Reel Sparked a Collaboration: How Creators Yash and Shanaya Makani Joined Forces with Guru Randhawa for ‘Sirra’ from Without Prejudice

In an age where social media algorithms often dictate what trends and what fades, it’s not every day that a creator’s viral dance reel turns into a professional collaboration with one of India’s leading musical icons. But for creators Yash and Shanaya Makani, that rare and unexpected opportunity came knocking—courtesy of none other than Guru Randhawa.

The celebrated singer-songwriter and performer, known for his global hits and catchy dance numbers, has always had a finger on the pulse of pop culture. His latest track Sirra from his debut album Without Prejudice is not just another high-octane addition to his discography—it’s also a shining example of how digital creativity can open real-world doors.

The Viral Spark: Qatal and the Power of Reels

The journey began when Qatal, one of the standout tracks from Without Prejudice, started making waves across social media platforms. The song’s catchy rhythm and energetic beats naturally lent themselves to dance choreography. Enter Yash and Shanaya Makani—two passionate young creators who not only joined the viral trend but elevated it with their original choreography and dynamic performances.

Their take on Qatal quickly caught attention online. What they didn’t anticipate was that it would also catch the eye of the very artist who sang it.

Guru Randhawa, impressed by their flair, rhythm, and confidence, reached out to the duo, proposing an exciting collaboration for his next release—Sirra. In an industry where aspiring creators often struggle for visibility, this was a game-changing moment.

From Fans to Collaborators: The Making of ‘Sirra’

Guru Randhawa’s Sirra is everything fans expect from the artist and more. Infectious energy, a bold attitude, dance-worthy beats, and a visual aesthetic that screams youth and vibrancy. But behind the scenes, it’s also a story of mentorship and belief in grassroots talent.

Yash, now the choreographer of Sirra, was given full creative control to craft the song’s signature hook step. Shanaya, with her boundless energy and magnetic screen presence, brought that choreography to life. The result? A dance video that feels organic, exciting, and refreshingly original.

Sirra is a very dear track to me,” shares Guru Randhawa. “We had an incredible time recording and shooting it. It’s filled with energy, and it’s got a refreshing vibe that I think will make everyone want to move. Working with Yash and Shanaya was amazing—they brought their own flavor and attitude, which elevated the entire experience. I hope we can collaborate on more projects in the future.”

New Voices and Familiar Beats

The song also features vocals from rising artist Kiran Bajwa, who complements Guru’s signature style with her distinctive voice. The composition and lyrics are penned by Rony Ajnali, Gill Machhrai, and Guru Randhawa himself—blending Punjabi swag with modern pop textures. This musical synergy gives Sirra a distinct place in the album and reinforces Guru’s talent for creating cross-genre hits.

Musically, Sirra is a fast-paced dance track filled with groovy beats and punchy lyrics—designed to be both a party anthem and a dance floor magnet. It reflects the spirit of the entire Without Prejudice album, where Guru embraces both sonic diversity and visual storytelling.

Creators’ Dream Come True

For Yash, the collaboration marked a turning point in his journey from teaching dance on Instagram to choreographing for a national-level music video.

“After the music video for Qatal dropped, I was inspired to teach that choreography to my students and followers. I posted the video online, not thinking much would come of it. But then, I received a message from Guru Randhawa’s team saying he wanted to collaborate. I was stunned. It was surreal. And now here we are, already working on his next music video,” he says, still in disbelief.

Shanaya Makani, who has built a name for herself as a lifestyle and dance influencer, also stepped into a new space as she made her debut in a music video. “This is my first-ever professional music video, and it was the most fun I’ve had on a set. It’s even more special because my friend Yash choreographed it. I’ve always admired Guru Randhawa, and being a part of Sirra was an unforgettable experience. It’s proof that digital creators have a place in the music industry if given the chance.”

A New Model of Collaboration

The Sirra collaboration is more than just a music video—it’s a testament to how the lines between mainstream entertainment and digital content creation are increasingly blurring. With platforms like Instagram and YouTube offering visibility like never before, artists and influencers now share a common ecosystem where creativity, engagement, and relatability matter as much as talent.

Guru Randhawa, known for his ability to sense cultural shifts and adapt his music accordingly, seems to understand this better than most. By partnering with creators like Yash and Shanaya, he’s not only staying relevant but also creating a space where collaboration is mutual, organic, and deeply impactful.

Without Prejudice: A Landmark Album

Without Prejudice is Guru Randhawa’s debut studio album, released in collaboration with Warner Music India. The album features nine tracks—each with its own mood, story, and sound. From the brooding intensity of Qatal to the emotional pull of Kithe Vasde Ne and the bounce of Snapback, the album highlights Guru’s versatility as a musician.

With each song, Guru explores different shades of love, ambition, heartbreak, and celebration. The title, Without Prejudice, reflects a creative mindset where boundaries—be they musical, visual, or cultural—are pushed, tested, and transcended.

The album’s massive reception, both in India and globally, proves that Guru has once again struck the right chord with his audience. The fact that Qatal became a chartbuster and inspired such viral content online is a testament to how music today is not just about audio—it’s about community, participation, and shared moments.

The Future: What Comes Next?

With Sirra already generating buzz and the creators gaining more traction, the collaboration sets a new benchmark for how the music industry can support and uplift emerging talent.

As Guru Randhawa continues to experiment with sound and visuals, it’s clear that he’s committed not just to staying ahead of trends—but to setting them. By embracing creators like Yash and Shanaya, he’s showing the world that music videos can be more than just a visual backdrop for a song. They can be a platform—a launchpad—for voices yet to be heard and talents waiting to be discovered.

And for creators dreaming of their big break, this story is a beacon of hope: sometimes, all it takes is one viral reel.
